InsureTEK’s Chief Technology Officer and co-founder is an internationally recognized architect, academic, author, and entrepreneur with a strong focus on the convergence of architecture, engineering, and information technology. Holding three degrees from MIT, he brings a wealth of expertise in Building Information Modeling and Internet of Things (IoT) applications for the built environment. Dennis began his journey at Gehry Partners in 1997, directing research and development, computing, and strategic initiatives. His influential Ph.D. thesis on “Digital Surface Representation and the Constructability of Gehry’s Architecture” remains a widely referenced work on digital modeling’s impact on complex building design. As the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Gehry Technologies, he oversaw groundbreaking software products and building projects. Currently, as an Associate Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Director of the Center for Architecture, Science, and Ecology (CASE), his focus lies on generative and building information modeling, including IoT and Digital Twin applications. Dennis co-directs Building Smart International’s technical program, driving technology platforms for open data Web and cloud-based building systems. His publications are featured in prestigious journals, and his work is regularly highlighted in top trade publications. Dennis also serves as the editor for the forthcoming book series “Practical Revolutions: Professional Applications of Disruptive Technologies to Building,” published by Wiley. His pivotal role at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute includes being an Associate Professor and a co-director of the institute-wide initiative on Energy, Built Environment, and Smart Systems.
